Discounts for 18 to 29 year olds
From 1st April 2019, CBHS Health Fund will be offering age-based discounts on Hospital cover for young Australians (aged between 18 and 29).
The discount you receive on your hospital premium, depends on your age when you first take out eligible Hospital cover and ranges from 10% (if you take out cover before the age of 26) to 2% (if you take out cover at the age of 29).
The discount is ongoing, which means if you keep your eligible Hospital cover, your discount remains until you turn 41. From then, the discount will reduce by 2% per year until it reaches zero.
Am I eligible?
To be eligible you’ll have to have your own policy or a policy with your partner. The age-based discount is not available for dependants who are on their parents’ policy.
If you are on a couple or family policy, the discount is calculated by taking an average of the discount applied to the adults on the Hospital cover.
Existing CBHS Corporate Health Members
If you’re a CBHS Corporate Health member, and under 30 as at April 1, and your Hospital cover is eligible for an age-based discount, the discount will be automatically applied to payments made from 1 April 2019. The amount of your discount will be based on your age as at 1 April 2019.
New CBHS Corporate Health Members
For new CBHS Corporate Health members, your discount will be based on the age you are when you first take out Hospital cover with CBHS Corporate Health. If you switch from another fund after 1 April 2019, your aged-based discount will carry over from your current fund.
